This year, the Association of Christian Intellectuals is appealing to the Hungarians of the world, asking them to ring the bells in our churches on the mournful day of June 4th.

As they wrote in their announcement: "In 2023, we will continue our tradition related to the anniversary of the Trianon peace decree, so we are once again inviting the Hungarian religious communities of the Carpathian Basin, regardless of denomination, to ring the bells in our churches on June 4, at 4:30 p.m. Hungarian time, and then pray the Hungarian for the unity of the nation and the defense of the Christian faith."

As they note, they strive to preserve our cultural heritage by ringing the bell, and by doing so they draw attention to the fact that

even though the nation is territorially divided, Hungarian Christians continue to stick together as one nation and respect and preserve their common history.

The ringing of the bell not only serves to attract attention, but also unites the community. It gathers community members on the occasion of holidays and commemorations, and thus gives people the opportunity to connect with their past and traditions, the organizers emphasize.

“Ringing the bell on June 4th can help remember our losses and also pay tribute to those who faced the consequences of Trianon. This bell is therefore also an expression of our national unity, which makes us aware that the painful memories of the past still have an impact on Hungarian society, and at the same time encourages us to better understand and discuss the consequences of the trauma together. , let's think in terms of national unity, for which we are ready to work and pray persistently," they say.

The Association of Christian Intellectuals is a Christian, civil organization operating in the form of an association, which tries to unite intellectuals. The organization was founded in 1989 under the direction of Professor Béla Csanád. Its current president is wigmaker Ákos Makláry.

They consider it their important mission to work for the unity of the nation, forging closer ties with Hungarians living in neighboring countries. Their goal is to create complete Hungarian unity.
