Mayors in southern Slovakia have launched a petition to put pressure on the government and the Ministry of Transport to review planned or rather unplanned developments in the road and railway network of the southern region. In the petition, among other things, they request that the construction of the R7 expressway be continued in the southern region of southern Slovakia - it was said at the press conference of the five members of the petition committee in Gúta.

In the petition they launched, the mayors of Komárom, Érsekújvár, Dunaszerdahely, Gúta and Naszvad strongly call on the government of Slovakia to provide more funds for the development of the road infrastructure, as well as request that the plans for the construction of road networks be implemented as soon as possible .

"We, the residents of southern Slovakia, would like to express our dissatisfaction with the state of the road infrastructure in the Slovak Republic. In some cities in Slovakia, strategic developments are poorly implemented and planned, and the quantity and quality of the road network and railway lines are lagging behind in the South Slovakia region. This significantly slows down the region's economic potential, and in some areas also endangers traffic safety.

We ask the competent Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic to continue the construction of the R7 expressway through the southern region of Slovakia as soon as possible, and to prioritize it in the list of planned investments at least up to the section in Ársekújvár.

We strongly call on the government of the Slovak Republic to provide more financial resources for the development of road infrastructure, so that the plans for the construction of road networks are realized in the shortest possible time.

We ask the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic to develop a mechanism that clearly demonstrates the principle of regional equity, i.e. proportional implementation of road and bridge improvements throughout the territory of the Slovak Republic.”

With the petition, they want to make the responsible ministry aware: "it's really enough," said Béla Keszegh, mayor of Komárom. "We want concrete progress, concrete solutions." "It is unacceptable that developments are not carried out proportionately. We don't ask for more, we don't ask that they make an exception for us, but we firmly insist on getting the same amount as other districts and regions".

The petition will be collected on paper until the end of the year, and it will soon be available on the websites of the settlements of the southern districts, but they are looking for additional supporters, including political and non-governmental organizations in its promotion, and anyone who cares about it.
