Hungary is safe, because compared to Western and Southern Europe, there is no threat of power outages under any circumstances, said the head of the Fidesz European Parliament (EP) delegation in Kossuth radio's Sunday newspaper program.

Tamás Deutsch emphasized: the situation in Western and Southern Europe is serious. As he put it: " it is a tangible reality that there can be a blackout, i.e. a power or energy outage that citizens are forced to suffer for a longer period of time in the winter months".

In Austria, the army is already using billboards and online advertisements to prepare citizens for the possibility that there will be a longer power outage of one week or even ten days due to the energy crisis, explained the politician from the ruling party.

He pointed out that the situation is similar in Germany, where the disaster management has produced an informative film about how older citizens living alone can protect themselves in the event of a power outage lasting several days.

On the other hand, thanks to the long-term, 10+5-year gas supply agreement concluded with Russia, Hungary's energy reserves create security for citizens, families and actors in economic life, the ruling party MEP stated.

Tamás Deutsch put it this way: "we, Central Europeans, have been used to the fact that in the past half a century, people in Western Europe do live better: in a higher material standard and in security".

However, now, compared to Hungary, the situation has completely reversed: "we, Hungarians, are safe because, thanks to the policy and practice of utility reduction, unlike Western Europe and Southern Europe, energy prices have not gone free".

The Fidesz EP representative underlined that the retail price of natural gas in Hungary is the cheapest in the European Union, and the price of electricity is the second lowest.

Tamás Deutsch said that in this situation, the Hungarian left, Gyurcsány, Márki-Zay, Csaba Molnár, and Anna Donáth continue to attack, want to change, and want to abolish the policy of utility reduction.

"The left says that the good energy price formation system is the one in Western Europe, where, by the way, in several countries the price of gas and electricity has risen by 300 percent and 400 percent, respectively, compared to January," added the government politician . .

He emphasized that if the left's will to eliminate utility reduction were to prevail, it would mean that an average Hungarian family would pay more than HUF 380,000 more for utilities every year.

"Furthermore, the fact that, of course, the Hungarian left enthusiastically supports such an absurd Brussels idea that the costs of climate protection should be paid by the citizens, and that a climate tax should be imposed on apartments and car owners. Otherwise, this would mean an additional HUF 150,000 in expenses for each family," explained Tamás Deutsch.

"It's easy to calculate: what the Márki-Zays want is an additional burden of half a million HUF, let's not even talk about the loss of energy security," he added.

Tamás Deutsch also spoke about the "fixed idea of the leaders of the Union that everything that comes from the East, from China, or from Russia, is bad". As an example, he mentioned that if the anti-Covid vaccine, which saves the lives of European citizens, comes from the East to Western Europe, then it is also bad, "because it's Russians, it's Chinese."

"The same is the case with energy price formation: they are unlimited proselytes of the ideology of the free market", while Hungary owes its energy price security to the restrictions on the functioning of the free market, and the fact that utilities have become 25 percent cheaper in the country since 2013-2014, Deutsch explained. Thomas.

The politician from the ruling party declared, "we will protect the utility reduction", Hungarian citizens will be safe in terms of utility prices and energy supply.

Speaking about Péter Márki-Zay, the leader of the Fidesz-KDNP EP representative group, he said: it is the behavior of a weak person and politician if he wants to make up for his lack of strength with insults.

Péter Márki-Zay's family is reassured by the fact that there is a reduction in utilities in Hungary, and if what Péter Márki-Zay is demanding were the reality, then energy prices would run wild, and Péter Márki-Zay's family would suffer from this, said Tamás Deutsch.

According to the politician, the question arises as to why Péter Márki-Zay wants something detrimental to his own family out of bad ideological conviction.

"Probably, the explanation is to be found in the fact that the Hungarian left feels that it is weak and needs external help in order to enter the electoral struggle with minimal hope of success," he stated .

He emphasized: " from outside, from Brussels, but they only get help if they renounce the Brussels lesson in everything, if they represent the interests of Brussels against the Hungarian national interests".

"Péter Márki-Zay has always done this, he is doing this now and he wants to do this in the future," he declared.

Tamás Deutsch emphasized that this is a warning sign, because people "must not be allowed into decision-making positions when they want to represent not Hungarian national interests, but external interests, namely the interests of Brussels".
