More than a hundred thousand border violators have been caught at the Hungarian border so far this year, and proceedings have been initiated against more than a thousand people smugglers, the prime minister's chief adviser on internal security announced on M1's Ma este program on Saturday.

According to György Bakondi, the migration situation is currently worse than in 2015: migrants are still active on the classic routes, and a new route has opened from Belarus to Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania.

It's time for the nation-states to be able to use European Union funds in addition to the national budget to protect the borders, he said, adding: mass immigration must be prevented in order to preserve sovereignty.
