The child and youth psychiatry and emergency care of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Central Hospital and University Teaching Hospital will be renewed with investments and modernizations, announced the Minister of Human Resources at a press conference.

Miklós Kásler said that the health care institution with the largest turnover in the country has been stable for years, and in the last three years about HUF 15 billion has been invested in patient care and background services.

János Révész, the director-general of the institution, explained the investments in detail, saying that a psychiatric building specialized in the care of children and adolescents was built with HUF 300 million EU funds, and a complex outpatient care and care center was created in its 500 square meter area.

He indicated:

this investment filled a gap, since there was no organized child and youth psychiatric care in the north-eastern Hungarian region until now.

In the new building, outpatient and inpatient care is also possible.

In addition, the adult psychiatry building was reconstructed with HUF 850 million from EU funds. Structural changes were made to the building, and the water, heating and other energy systems were replaced.

According to János Révész, the environment plays an important role in the care of psychiatric patients who stay inside for several weeks or even months, which is why they tried to use architectural solutions adapted to this during the renovation.

The director general also reported that the institution's emergency care for children will be developed with HUF 2.7 billion. In the country's second largest pediatric center, among other things, the children's emergency and trauma clinics will be expanded, the entire operating room will be renovated, and the central patient care center will have a direct connection to the helipad.

Katalin Csöbör, the Fidesz representative of the region, said:

it is necessary to fight a global epidemic and develop the health sector at the same time, but the economic results of the country make both possible.

He reminded that the investments in the hospital had been continuous until now; a solar park was established, the obstetrics and premature birth department, the cardiology, gastroenterology or oncology departments were modernized.

The Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Central Hospital and University Teaching Hospital treats the region's patients, two million people a year, on 3,400 beds at six sites in three cities.
