Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Sebastian Coe, president of the International Athletics Federation (IAAF), held talks at the Carmelite Monastery on Sunday; the British sports leader came to Budapest for the World Aquatic Championships, but he also learned about the preparations for next year's World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Bertalan Havasi, Deputy State Secretary in charge of the Prime Minister's Press Office, told MTI.

Between August 19 and 27, 2023, Budapest will host the world's third largest sporting event, the World Athletics Championships. It is the biggest sports event in the history of Hungary, to which athletes from more than 200 countries will come, and whose news will reach more than one billion people, said the press chief.

Viktor Orbán and Sebastian Coe expressed their satisfaction with the organization, stating that everything is going according to plan.

The president of the IAAF also emphasized at this meeting: a very good team is working to ensure that the public can see a fantastic world championship.
