The capital blackmails the government with an ultimatum, if it doesn't pay, public transport will be stopped. Unfortunately, however, the ball bounces with the Karácsonys, they are the ones who do not sign.

In the event of a minimal willingness to cooperate, the Budapest Municipality could have settled the matter of this year's financing of public transport in Budapest many months ago, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology writes in its announcement. The primary task of the Capital City Government is to ensure public transport in Budapest, but if the Capital City cannot even solve this, then the mayor is really incompetent!

But it doesn't matter if he didn't do anything about it out of incompetence or recently with the intention of distracting, the key to solving the issue is still in the hands of the mayor. The provision of local public transport is a mandatory task of local governments set by law. The central budget contributes a significant amount to the financing. The finalization of the agreements that form the basis for the payment of the subsidy is solely up to the Metropolitan Municipality.

However, the city administration is not willing to pay its share of the financing of the agglomeration's public transport services based on actual performance, and to conclude the financing agreement accordingly.

Payment is subject to signature. If the city administration cannot solve even this, it will only provide further evidence of the mayor's incompetence. The foaming of an issue that can easily be settled is transparent, so it is a doomed attempt to divert attention from the scandal surrounding the sale of the City Hall to something else. The key to the solution is in the hands of the capital's leadership, and Gergely Karácsony is therefore responsible for resolving the situation as soon as possible.
