More than 70,000 applications for the home renovation subsidy have already been received, the minister without portfolio responsible for families told MTI on Saturday.
The communique recalled that since January 2021, the home creation program, which helps families expecting or raising children, will be enriched by the 3 million HUF non-refundable renovation grant, with which the government has further expanded the financial flexibility of families.
According to the minister's announcement, the amount of state subsidies paid for home renovation subsidies nationwide is already close to HUF 100 billion. Up to now, Hungarian families have carried out home renovations totaling HUF 277 billion thanks to the incentive of the support.
The demand for a maximum HUF 3 million home renovation subsidy, which serves to provide housing security and the comfort of the home of families raising children, has been continuously increasing since its announcement - explained the summary, also referring to the fact that this form of support is for those at least (from the age of 12 weeks of pregnancy to the age of 25) it is intended for families raising or expecting a child, who already have their own home and would like to further modernize and renovate it.
The minister emphasized that parents raising a child with altered working capacity or a disability can use the support regardless of their child's age. He called the exemption from public debt as well as the continuous social insurance legal relationship of at least one year, to which the widowed parents are also entitled after the death of their partner. The support can be used for both material costs and labor costs, in a ratio of half to half.
It can be read in the brochure that families who do not have sufficient personal resources to carry out the renovation can also use the discounted home renovation loan, under which applicants can borrow up to HUF 6 million with a maximum term of 10 years and an interest rate of 3 percent.
The home renovation subsidies were requested mainly for the modernization of interior spaces, such as tiling, painting, electrical installation, on the one hand for the installation of solar collectors and solar panels, and on the other hand for roof renovation and replacement of exterior doors and windows, explained the minister.
