The tax office will help ensure that everyone involved gets their taxes paid this year back by February 15, so they will send information to about 180,000 parents in the next few days. All those concerned have to do is to fill in the RETURN declaration by December 31, 2021 , informed Norbert Izer, the State Secretary responsible for tax affairs at the Ministry of Finance.

He recalled that those whose bank account number and address are known by the APEH from the family allowance data have nothing to do.

They can also check the correctness of the data by viewing the so-called RETURN statement, he noted. He added that the other parents can also get their money very easily, they just have to fill out the RETURN, on which the data necessary for the tax refund to be issued on February 15, 2022 must be indicated.

As of December 7, more than 380,000 declarations were received, but there are still some from whom the National Tax and Customs Administration expects data for family tax refunds, explained Norbert Izer. As he said, in the next few days, the tax office will send information to those parents who claim the family tax allowance during the year, so they are also entitled to a tax refund, but the most important information required for the payment (typically the bank account number or the address for the money to be delivered by post) is not available.

It only takes a few minutes to fill out the REFUND statement, but those who fail to do so this year can only request a family tax refund in their tax return next year, i.e. they will not receive their tax refund for this year until February 15, 2022, but in the tax return for 2021 within thirty days of its submission, but no earlier than March 1. In addition, those who save the few minutes spent on filling out the declaration this year will face some additional tasks next year, as they will have to supplement the draft declaration prepared by the tax office with the allocation data, underlined Norbert Izer.
