French authorities managed to prevent a terrorist attack planned for the Christmas period after men from the Directorate-General for Internal Security (DGSI) arrested two 23-year-old men who were preparing to carry out a stabbing attack in the name of Islam.
According to the information of Le Parisien newspaper, which reported on what happened, the DGSI noticed the two suspects based on messages exchanged on the Internet, who discussed the details of the attack on the Internet, which they wanted to carry out during the holiday season.
The newspaper knows that the two men have met in person in recent weeks, and their plan was to attack a frequented place during the holiday period, in a mall or shopping street, V4NA wrote.
The young people were detained in two departments neighboring Paris, Seine-et-Marne and Yvelines, on November 29, but the details have only now been made public. The two radical Islamists were charged with participating in a terrorist-criminal organization and jailed on December 3.
During his police interrogation, one of the suspects admitted that his plan was to kill the "infidels" and then die as a "martyr". He also admitted that he and his accomplice would have carried out the terrorist attack on behalf of the Islamic State.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin also reacted to what happened, who wrote on Twitter that the vigilance of the authorities is not decreasing, as the threat of terrorism remains high in France, and then thanked the people of the Directorate General of Internal Security who arrested the two persons.
