I don't necessarily think the minimum wage is necessary either - Péter Márki-Zay, the candidate of the left, said all this in a recent video.

The statement of Gyurcsány's candidate would cause huge chaos and a decrease in wages in the Hungarian economy if it were to materialize. On the other hand, the Orbán government did not abolish it, but continuously raised the minimum wage in the 11 years we left behind. Next year, the minimum wage will already be HUF 200,000, and this will greatly increase the value of many other benefits.

The latest idea of Gyurcsány's candidate would fundamentally destroy the system of domestic salaries and benefits. If Márki-Zay's program were to be implemented, hundreds of thousands of people would find themselves in unprecedented uncertainty.

In the European Union, Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Italy and Sweden currently do not set a mandatory minimum wage, but this does not mean that they do not provide people with a minimum income through other systems. And Márki-Zay did not say a single word about how he would regulate this area of the economy if there was no minimum wage.

During Gyurcsány's administration, the minimum wage barely increased

Before 2010, Hungary was in the bottom half of the European rankings in terms of the minimum wage and the guaranteed minimum wage, and we were not even able to move forward. Moreover, in terms of the real value of the minimum wage between 2002 and 2010, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia also surpassed us. However, after 2010, the Hungarian government's strategic goal was to raise domestic earnings, thus the lowest wages.

THANKS TO THIS, THE DOMESTIC MINIMUM WAGE INCREASED BY 74 PERCENT BETWEEN 2010 AND 2020 AND THE BUYER VALUE OF THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASED BY 87 PERCENT.

During this period, only Lithuania was able to produce higher dynamics.

Next year, the minimum wage will be HUF 200,000 and the guaranteed minimum wage will be HUF 260,000

The Permanent Consultation Forum of the Competition Sector and the Government reached a compromise on November 3, 2021, so the minimum wage will rise to HUF 200,000 and the guaranteed minimum wage will rise to HUF 260,000 from January.

SO FROM JANUARY, THE MINIMUM WAGE WILL BE MORE THAN THE AVERAGE WAGE IN 2010 UNDER THE LEFT-WING GOVERNMENT.

In addition, the smallest guaranteed wage increases have many positive benefits, because this also increases the various family allowances.

Most recent analyst opinions expect inflation of around five percent for 2021. This means that the purchase value of minimum wages can be up to 15 percent higher on average. Next year, the purchasing power of the guaranteed minimum wage will more than double, by 112 percent, compared to the change of government in 2010.
