The audience of the long-established Aleksandrinszkij Theater welcomed Attila Vidnyánszky's second St. Petersburg production, the stage adaptation of Franz Kafka's novel The Trial, with a huge, standing ovation. His first St. Petersburg production, the monumental six-hour Crime and Guilt, co-produced with the Avignon Theater Festival, received the biggest Russian theater award, the Golden Mask, and has been on the show for five years.
Following the success of Crime and Punishment, the performance entitled The Trial, based on the text of one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, was accompanied by great interest from both the St. Petersburg audience and the Russian profession.
The special attention of the spectators and the Russian theater profession, as well as the explosive success of the approximately four-hour spectacular performance, also indicate that the productions of Attila Vidnyánszky have become important factors of the extremely rich and high-quality life in Russia for many years.
The Alexandrinsky Theater is recognized as one of the best theaters in Europe, and its artistic director is the great Russian director Valery Fokin. The best European theater directors - including Attila Vidnyánszky - are regularly invited to the Aleksandrinskij Theater.
