It was written on the government portal: the number of infected people identified in Hungary has increased to 1,218,295. 37,530 people died, the number of those who recovered rose to 1,026,254. The number of active infected people is 154,511. 5,856 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospitals, of which 519 are on ventilators. There are 45,852 people in official home quarantine, the number of samples taken is 8,947,845.

They pointed out that the omicron virus variant is already present in Hungary, which is why they continue to ask the unvaccinated to take the vaccine, because "against all variants, the chance is greater with the vaccine than without". Those who have been vaccinated before are still asked to take the booster shot, as it increases protection to 80-90 percent again.

They reminded that in the new vaccination campaign that started on Thursday, you can go to the vaccination points on Friday between 14:00 and 18:00 and on Saturday between 10:00 and 18:00 without prior appointment.

Vaccination of 5-11-year-old children is still only possible by appointment or at home pediatricians, they pointed out. Registration and appointment bookings for children's vaccinations, which are carried out in 77 hospitals and private pediatricians, are continuously open, they added.

Parents who have registered their child with complete information and whose registration has already been validated can enter the appointment booking system. The parent can also indicate to the family pediatrician that they would like to vaccinate their child, they wrote.

It was indicated that all children aged 5-11 can be vaccinated if the parent requests it and there are no contraindications to the vaccination. Vaccination is contraindicated in case of acute, febrile illness. The second vaccination for children is also due three weeks after the first vaccination.

The vaccination work group is planning additional vaccination campaign days for January, they said, when in addition to hospital vaccination points, vaccinations will be held at all district headquarters and general practitioners will also vaccinate.
