With the support of Lőrinc Mészáros of HUF 100 million, the firefighters of Bicske received a vehicle worth a total of HUF 200 million: a new fire extinguisher with a state-of-the-art design, which is unique in Hungary but rare in Europe, was handed over in Bicske on Thursday.

At the handover ceremony, Mayor István Bálint (Fidesz-KDNP) recalled: when the firefighters approached him with the idea of buying a new vehicle, there was no question that he would support it, because the safety of the city and the local residents comes first. After the request for proposals, it turned out that the vehicle would cost HUF 200 million, which was a huge challenge, but they organized a fundraiser, contacted local entrepreneurs, and the municipality added HUF 21 million.

Zoltán Tessely, the Fidesz parliamentary representative of the region, said that Spar Magyarország Kft., located in Bicske, increased the collection account by HUF 25 million, Vivber Kft., also local, donated HUF 2.5 million, while the fire department provided HUF 25 million from its own reserves. Almost half of the price of the fire truck was available with small and large donations, Lőrinc Mészáros offered the remaining one hundred million forints, he added.

The representative announced that the energetic renovation of the fire department's building could start soon, as the city's municipality won HUF 67 million in TOP funds.

Lőrinc Mészáros, the owner of the Mészáros Group, emphasized: as a businessman and local patriot, he feels obliged to help the development of the region and the improvement of living conditions, be it study scholarships, housing and construction support, strengthening public safety or, as in this case, saving lives and property. on ensuring its conditions. He believed that all of this would be in vain if there was no community cooperation, with which "things that seem impossible can become reality."

Viktor Polgár, the president of the Bicskei Volunteer Fire Department, said that in 2017 the idea of the new vehicle was born out of necessity, since the vehicle injector they used so far is now 17 years old and has survived thousands of alarms, and their other cars are even older. He pointed out that this year, their 140-year-old fire department received a "birthday present" that will always remain a dream in the lives of many fire departments.

BÖT firefighters supervise thirteen settlements in the Bicske district, they are the primary helpers on the M1 highway between Biatorbágy and Tatabánya, and they also cover the twenty-four kilometer long section of highway 1.

According to the press release, the newly delivered IVECO-Magirus heavy weight class fire extinguisher is capable of transporting 3,500 liters of extinguishing water and 250 liters of foaming material. The service car can transport 1+5 people, i.e. an entire squad, and is equipped with the most modern tools necessary for saving life and property.
