A Christian Democratic Advent spiritual day was held in Vácott. The church affairs working group of the KDNP's Pest county organization announced a spiritual day, which took place on December 4, 2021, the memorial day of St. John of Damascus, a 7th-century public figure and contemporary "Christian Democrat".
The spiritual day was opened by Gergely Gaal, the president of the Pest County organization, and the program began with the Holy Mass presented by the Most Reverend Zsolt Marton, County Bishop. Afterwards, the bishop gave further guidance in an informal conversation. In his homily concerning the many challenges of our day, he pointed out how important it is for us, Christians, to rely on prayer in every case: whether before a trial or when making important decisions, since even when we are working hard to build God's kingdom, we can be most effective if we strive to always be with God let's act together.
Regarding the role of the KDNP in today's Hungarian politics, the bishop said that a Christian-democratic political community has a special responsibility to act as the voice of conscience in everyday political life.
During the afternoon, those present could listen to the testimony of András Csókay and Tünde Zsuffa. The world-renowned neurosurgeon demonstrated the power of prayer during his medical missions and how important the constant presence of the Holy Spirit was either in the operating rooms in Nigeria or during the separation of Siamese twins in Bangladesh. András Csókay gave an authentic example of the power of prayer: ideas for excellent medical solutions came to his mind while praying the rosary; according to him, he begins every visit and every operation with a prayer.
In her testimony, the writer Zsuffa Tünde, press chief of the International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest, spoke with touching honesty about her life, her family, the example she received from her father, how faith can be passed down within the family, and that one bears many crosses in one's life, but being strengthened by God, one must always stand up and you can stand up.
