The Eastern Hungarian Reformed Children's Protection Center has been organizing a joint Advent celebration in Debrecen for almost ten years, where foster parents and children from the five counties of the region can prepare for the upcoming holiday together and give thanks for the year behind them.

Balázs Bujdosó, acting head of the Magyarország Reformát Diakóniai Iroda, dr. Attila Kocsis, the pastor of the Eastern Hungarian Reformed Child Protection Center, and Erzsébet Miklósi, the institutional manager of this center. "The lack of connections, the fear of the pandemic and the challenges of online education also made the work difficult. But this is important: it made it difficult, but did not prevent it! We gratefully thank all foster parents and staff for their dedicated work throughout the year. These children, whom God has entrusted to us, can only count on you, it is thanks to you that they were able to get a home and security", expressed her gratitude Erzsébet Miklósi.

On the festive occasion, the Foster Parents of the Year, the Residential Home of the Year and the Employees of the Year were also awarded with certificates. The Szabolcsveresmart Reformed Congregation became the Supporting Congregation of the Year, Béla Szabó, pastor of the Jánkmajtis Reformed Congregation, became the Supporting Pastor of the Year, and the Supporting Organization of the Year became the Hungarian Reformed Charity Service Foundation.

On behalf of the foundation, pastor Norbert Molnár said: this year, through the Children's Protection Center, 345 children living in residential homes or foster care made their Christmas dreams come true through the foundation's Christmas Wish List program. – The gifts given include toys, clothes, sports equipment and musical instruments. Every gift is precious, but it is love that makes what foster parents, donors, and us put into it truly precious. This is our real mission: to show God's love to people with our service - Norbert Molnár summarized his thoughts.
