The Rozália House was consecrated in Szeged on Saturday, where the service of the Greek Catholic Parish of Szeged, named after St. Rozália of Palermo, offers help to older people who cannot take care of themselves, and there is also a workplace nursery.

"The fruit of silence is prayer. The fruit of prayer is faith. The fruit of faith is love. The fruit of love is service.”

Parish priest Miklós Szaplonczay recalled at the ceremony that in 2010, the parish started its service primarily providing spiritual help to the elderly with university volunteers. Then, when they realized that this age group needs much more than that, they founded the Szent Rozália Service .

With the development of the service, they were able to help more and more elderly people, they outgrew their place and were forced to move several times. In addition to domestic help and social meals, there was a need for day care for the elderly, and they wanted to create a nursery for the children of the young people working at the service.

said the wigmaker.

A generous donor, who asked to remain anonymous, offered the community a large family home that was renovated by the parish and ministry workers. In the reborn building, day care for the elderly with colorful programs, social catering, a workplace nursery is in operation, and it is the center of the domestic assistance service.

Local government representative Haág Zalán, the local president of the KDNP, reminded that the Greek Catholic parish in Szeged did not reject those who came to it even when it was in the most financial need.

Today, within institutionalized frameworks and beyond, the community practices Christ-like love in action, from kindergartens to university students to the elderly.

István Seszták, the chief deputy of the Hajdúdorog Archdiocese, stated that the church has no other task than to display Christ's service in society. More than a decade ago, the Greek Catholic Church tried to institutionalize this in as many places as possible.

Today, the various organizations of the Greek Catholic dioceses take care of more than three thousand children, they provide home help in about fifty places, and the number of residential institutions providing specialized care exceeds ten.

More than ten thousand students study in public educational institutions maintained by Greek Catholics from kindergarten to high school, and the Szent Atanaz Greek Catholic College of Religious Studies operates in Nyíregyháza. The church also got involved in health care in Kisvárda and Debrecen.
