The 32nd National Children and Youth Folk Dance Festival in Szeged will begin on Friday afternoon with the participation of half a hundred groups and more than 1,400 children, Hedvig Orbán, director of the organizer Albert Agóra Szent-Györgyi, informed MTI.

The festival was created more than three decades ago with the intention of creating an introduction opportunity for the smaller Csongrád County folk dance groups. However, the event expanded significantly after a few years, and today performers come to Szeged from all over the country and beyond the border with their high-quality productions.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 51 dance groups will present sixty choreographies at the six presentation performances in the Szent-Györgyi Albert Agórá, and the number of participating children and youth dancers exceeds 1,400.

The productions are evaluated by a jury of renowned folk dance teachers. Based on the jury's opinion, the program for the two Sunday galas will also be compiled, during which the audience will be able to see seven or eight productions at the National Theater in Szeged.
