The Roman Janus (or Ianus), the god of the beginning and the end, was depicted with two faces: one looking towards the beginning, the other towards the end. Then time passed, another interpretation was attached to the two-faced image of God: that of duplicity.

Romania could have sewn the Janus face on its national flag a long time ago, there is nothing new in this. Just a few things happened in the past few days, which remind people again of the classic tricolor two-color.

US President Joe Biden organized this democracy summit. That's fine, democracy is never enough, summits are even more so, but if you have to go, you have to go. The president of the country's pseudo-minority, Klaus Ionopotchivanoc Iohannis, ran to democratize a good taste in the virtual space. And he said nice things, just take a look:

"When it comes to progress on human rights, it is important to ensure the safety of communities, individuals and institutions against anti-Semitism, xenophobia, radicalization and hate speech."

Can you understand me? Out there, out into the world of democratic standards, this pseudo-minority state president speaks like a real Charles the Great-winning European Superman.

So, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, radicalization and hate speech must be pursued, right, Mr. President? performance on April 29, 2020 , when you talked about PSD giving Transylvania to the Hungarians.

Let's see: the speech is not anti-Semitic, I congratulate you, but only because it is about Hungarians. Xenophobic? Yes, because it portrays the Hungarians as foreigners. Radicalized? Yes, because he accuses the Hungarians of extreme nonsense. Hate speech? Well, it goes without saying that Hungarians are black-assed.

But we could also talk, for example, about the situation of registered same-sex partnerships in Romania. More precisely, about the fact that there is no situation. No registered partnership. Hahaha, democratic developed world! Any comments, headshots, rule of law fireballs?

And of course, we can also talk about the Hungarian community in Romania, the thorn that has been deeply disrespecting the foot of the united and indivisible and sovereign and independent nation-state for more than a hundred years. Which the nation-state has been trying to eradicate and dissolve for well over a hundred years, but so far it is not working. And what does the other, inward Janus-face do? He crushes it wherever he can. Among the many examples, I would like to single out a very recent one: there is the fact that the two small Hungarian parties in Transylvania, the MPP and the EMNP, decided to merge after a long tug-of-war. Then the court in Bucharest nicely told them that it doesn't work, because the word "Hungarian" is included in the name of the emerging Transylvanian Hungarian Association. So what would be in it? Dacian? Okay, the parties appealed, and just on Friday the ruling of the district court in Bucharest came

And these are the moments when you just sit, look at the Janus face on the tricolor and marvel at the diversity of human rights, and the duplicity of the Romanian Janus. Then he takes out the well-greased knife and starts cutting bacon. Because he believes in the rule of law in his own way. And not xenophobic. He is not radicalized. It's not full of hate either. He just silently hates the duplicity of an independent, sovereign, unified and indivisible nation-state.
