The National Assembly voted for the Ministry of Agriculture's food rescue program. According to the new legislation, supermarkets must offer near-expiry products to the Food Rescue Center (ÉMK) from February 1st.

So far the not-so-old news. For years, I have been hearing from liberal speakers that this insensitive government lets thousands of tons of food be thrown away when it expires, or before it, instead of giving it to those in need. This is probably because they are ashamed that there are poor people in this country and therefore prefer not to pass such a law.

Although not hastily, this law was also born, somewhat following the global trend to save food that can still be used , since it took a lot of resources to produce it and many people are certainly in need of donations.

Now that's the problem! Now to hear that the fifties are coming back, the service, the einstand! And what's the point of it all, since the churches and charitable organizations have already done something similar , agreed with the department store chains, why should this be made mandatory? And how will it be distributed, and how will the matter be "distributed". And that the poor old women (like this!) will smoke now, because they can't get cheap farts! (What an extremely dispassionate and condescending position this is!)

IN OUR COUNTRY, 50-60 THOUSAND TONNES OF FOOD GO INTO THE GARBAGE EVERY YEAR, OF WHICH WE HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO SAVE TEN THOUSAND TONNES SO FAR!

This could be a case that pleases everyone and a real win-win story . It is in the interest of the department store chains to give the discount sooner, since this way they get income, they do not have to throw away the goods, and the customers can get fresher products , and more things are sold. Not to mention that according to the law it is not necessary to hand them over to the state, they can hand over the remaining - mainly durable - food to charitable organizations and churches instead of destroying it (which also has costs). The shops do not have to expect particularly big changes, they can continue to use the food donation channels they have established so far, the only thing that will happen is that the excess food will go to the needy via the Food Rescue Center instead of landfills.

Because yes! There are poor people who either cannot work because, for example, they are sick, disabled, abandoned elderly people, or for some reason their fate turned out to be unfortunate. In some cases, they live in disadvantaged regions, the outbreak is very difficult.

Many people keep their families in poverty through their own fault: they are alcoholics, multiple addicts, drifting on the waves of their passion. But their children also need to eat, maybe they only get canned food or pasta on the Christmas table, but at least that's what they get. And if, thanks to the current law, there is more than that, then this legislation had to be created!

We have gotten used to the fact that the left does not strive for any common minimum in Hungary. Be it the support of Hungarians across the border, a joint lobby in the European Parliament for the interests of our country, or even this current law, the message of which is: let as many donations as possible go to the poor, instead of the enormous waste of the consumer world.

A real Christmas message!
