The Polish portal Wpolityce conducted an interview with Jaroslaw Kaczynski, in which the deputy prime minister answered the question whether he does not consider "Lex TVN" to be the first step towards the Hungarian model, where they "get rid of independent editorial offices", as follows:

"There will be no such model in Poland. I don't see this in Hungary either, although the authorities there undoubtedly have a stronger position in the media than in Poland, although by far not as much as in Germany, where media freedom is just a fiction. We are only concerned with order. I know perfectly well that TVN will remain anti-government".

Part of the story is that Polish President Andrzej Duda on Monday vetoed the law that would have regulated ownership in the Polish media, which could have adversely affected the operation of the TVN commercial channel. In his press conference about the veto, Duda said that regardless of the veto, it may be necessary to restrict foreign capital in the media. But these restrictions should apply to those who want to invest in Poland in the future.

Kaczynski was also asked about Viktor Orbán's Russia policy and the Warsaw meeting with the leaders of the European right. The politician explained:

Orbán always had a different opinion about Russia, and the Hungarian Prime Minister never hid this.

"This is not a surprise to us, which does not change the fact that Orbán has remained a loyal ally," he declared

the Polish politician. Referring to the words of French politician Marine Le Pen, who says that Ukraine is in the zone of Russian influence, the PiS president explained:

"I radically reject your opinion, but if we want to talk in Western Europe, we can't only talk to those with whom we agree one hundred percent. In short, we have to shape politics in the real world and protect what is most fundamental," added the party president.
