According to the reasoning of the Montágh Board established to nurture the native language culture, the meaning of the word expressing belonging goes beyond the coexistence of parents and their children: a source of joy and a protective bastion that provides a secure foundation for the community of people over generations.
By choosing the word of the year, the Montágh Board strives to - although the rich vocabulary of the Hungarian language allows us to express our thoughts in extremely nuanced ways - every year select the one word that best sums up and expresses the given year.
"In the year 2021, the importance and power of the family really showed itself. The family is the basis of our social coexistence, an inseparable part of Christian culture, an emotional and spiritual community.
True togetherness can be seen in the bonds of the family, as family members can always rely on each other with confidence. Even against the challenges of everyday life, the family is the last bastion of protection: no matter where life takes us, the family is in us and stays with us," emphasized Ágnes Vadász, president of the Montágh Board.
The Montágh Board is an advisory, commenting, proposing and controlling body of the public media; its primary task is to support the preservation of cultural values and the creation of values, with a particular emphasis on nurturing the native language and behavioral culture. Starting in 2020, the word of the year will be announced by the public media in December each year based on the votes of the members of the Montágh Board.
