In the past year, compared to 2020, the trade turnover increased by 3 percent, which means that it exceeded the level of 2019, i.e. before the epidemic, the Secretary General of the National Trade Association stated in the current program of the M1 channel on Sunday.
György Vámos stated that since autumn, the commercial turnover showed a 5-6 percent increase compared to the previous year, and there were queues at the cash registers of department stores that had never been seen before the festive period.
Compared to the previous extremely dynamic growth of 30-40 percent per year, in 2020 and 2021, online trade, i.e., the turnover of online stores, which represents 10-12 percent of the total trade turnover, expanded at a lower rate by 20-25 percent.
He also said that trickery with devaluation is prevented by the measure valid from May, according to which the lowest price of the previous 30 days can be the starting point for the discounted price. It is therefore not possible to devalue a product in the future by raising its price the day before the devaluation and giving a discount in comparison.
