The government Information Center has published a short summary, listing the changes that can make our lives easier in 2022, which does not promise to be an easy year.
"In 2022, many changes will come into effect...
Wage increases
Starting January 1, the minimum wage will increase to HUF 200,000 and the minimum wage for skilled workers to HUF 260,000. This represents a threefold increase compared to the beginning of the administration. The nursing and medical salary increase program will also continue. Nursery workers, nursery teachers, teachers, workers in the social and cultural sectors, as well as soldiers and members of the professional staff performing law enforcement duties, can expect higher wages.
Tax reductions
The government continues its policy of tax reduction. Therefore, the public burden paid by employers is reduced from 17 to 13 percent. This gives businesses more leeway for future wage increases. In addition , the ekho will be reduced, the small business tax will be reduced, and the discount for small and medium-sized businesses in the local business tax will be extended.
Extra support for our elderly and young compatriots
We are paying off an old debt by restoring the 13th monthly pension. In addition, all pensions will increase by 5 percent from January. Young people under the age of 25 do not have to pay income tax from now on. The tax discount can be applied up to the level of gross average earnings. There was no such measure before, and this could mean an average of HUF 40,000 extra for hundreds of thousands of young people.
More support for families
As the economy strengthens, the family tax refund may come into effect. This means that families raising children will get back their income tax paid in 2021 up to the tax level of the gross average earnings. The subsidy for the baby bond will increase from HUF 6 to HUF 12,000 , and the babysitting subsidy will continue to be available, as will a wide range of home building subsidies. The largest solar panel installation program to date has also been launched, with significant state support.
In 2022, we will continue to work to suppress the epidemic with the vaccination program, and in the meantime the country will function and continue to grow stronger. Our goal is for every Hungarian to feel this strengthening in their own lives," the Government Information Center said in a statement.
