The national list of the Fidesz-KDNP is supported by 49 percent of sure voters, while only 44 percent support the joint list of the six left-wing parties, according to a recent poll by the Center for Fundamental Rights, the results of which were announced to MTI on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, based on the survey data conducted in mid-January, the governing parties can have a moderate but stable advantage, while Mi Hazánk would gain 4 percent and the Hungarian Kétfarkú Kutya Párt 3 percent in an election due this Sunday.
They wrote: the nationally representative survey assessed the expected electoral behavior of those with a Hungarian address, paying particular attention to which national list of organizations or party associations the respondents would support.
From the data recorded between January 17 and 19, it is revealed that every second of those who intend to exercise their right to vote would vote for the Fidesz-KDNP list in an election due this Sunday, they explained.
According to the Center for Fundamental Rights, the government parties were supported by 47 percent of domestic voters who appeared in the elections in April 2018, and 49 percent of them would do the same in mid-January 2022, based on the data.
In contrast, they continued, the popularity of the joint list of the six left-wing parties among sure voters was 44 percent at the time of data collection.
The announcement also reported that, among the smaller opposition parties, neither Mi Hazánk (4 percent) nor the Hungarian Kétfarkú Kutya Párt (3 percent) would enter parliament based on data from the beginning of the year.
According to the center's evaluation, all this means that the ruling party alliance can claim a moderate but stable advantage of 5 percentage points over the "left-wing list led by Péter Márki-Zay, whom Ferenc Gyurcsány only calls +captain+". In this way, an eight-party parliament would be formed, presumably with an absolute majority of Fidesz-KDNP representatives, they concluded.
