The protection of children is a matter of national destiny, and the purpose of the April referendum is to create a consensus on this issue, said the director of communications of Fidesz at a child protection conference in Budapest on Wednesday.

István Hollik, organized by the Women's Eyes Association (NőiSzem) and the Szent István Institute A child is not a game! highlighted at the event:

Hungary will be the first in Europe to ask people's opinions on the issue of child protection in a referendum, and this could represent a pre-emptive strike against gender ideology.

The politician drew parallels between illegal immigration and the gender issue, stating that "Immigrants were allowed into Western Europe, and now they cannot be expelled. It is the same with gender propaganda, once rights are granted to them, it is almost impossible to take back acquired rights".

István Hollik therefore encouraged everyone to participate in the referendum, because "the decision will be final and cannot be undone". The Fidesz communications director also pointed out that gender propaganda is an existing danger, yet the left calls it a fake problem.

"And this is not only a tactical question on their part, but an intellectual conviction, as several left-wing representatives have made it clear that if they get into government, they will allow LGBTQ activists into kindergartens and schools," said István Hollik.

Róbert Répássy, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, stated in his presentation that the government considers the protection of children and the fight against sexual abuse of children to be of utmost importance, and recognizes the right of parents to say how they want to raise their children in such sensitive matters as sexuality.

"The Child Protection Act is only about the education of children and the protection of minors, it is not intended to exclude or discriminate, and it does not apply to adult citizens," said Róbert Répássy, referring to the attacks on the law, adding that they are a constructive partner in every dispute, but they insist that the protection of children should not be the subject of ideological questions.
