The Peace March is ten years old, which I see only as an uplifting phenomenon of common heartbeats. It affects the vast majority of Hungarians, including me in two ways. One is that I can be a member of a community that is unique in Europe, since here, based on the principle of popular sovereignty, people can freely express the emotions that they want to show either to the government or to the European Union as an important message.

The other is that the Hungarians are well aware that the achievement of freedom, the preservation of our independence and sovereignty must be a constant, never-ending process. Ours is a nation famous for its revolutions, and our ancestors and current families know exactly what happened in 1848 or 1956, when we could only win our freedom, even for a short time, at the cost of great blood sacrifices. I also consider the Peace March a revolutionary act, but of course a quiet, so to speak, velvety declaration of will. By the way, winning freedom is one thing... But in many cases preserving freedom also requires a revolution, if not always with a blood sacrifice, although the nation had to sacrifice blood for it in 2006, for example. The task of the Peace March is also to remind us: the guardians must always be vigilant.

Peace march on October 23, 2021

I consider the greatest achievement of the Peace March to be the fact that 340,000 people came to the event at the invitation of CÖF-CÖKA, according to official data. It seems that now, on March 15, we may even have twice as many. When people are able and have been able to create such a large community for ten years now, it is a signal for the international scene as well. The Peace Procession became an important value, which can even be called Hungarian.

It is the duty of Hungarian civilians to stand behind their national and Christian-based government, but they also have another mission. Those European societies which, like the Hungarians, do not believe in a large, federal, centrally controlled state, but in a smart and strong alliance of independent nations, must show the way. The Hungarians appearing at the Peace March are sending a message to the whole of Europe, the Polish, Italian, Spanish and who knows exactly which nations are already appearing at the event... Not to mention the Hungarians beyond our borders! I believe that the Peace March is a serious and stern warning to the leadership in Brussels. I am talking about people and societies who want to make decisions based on the principle of the sovereignty of their community, but also about the great questions of the fate of Europe.
