Central Europe's largest and most modern equipment park digitization center for public collections was handed over on Friday at the National Széchényi Library (OSZK). On the occasion of the handover, a digitization cooperation agreement was signed between the OSZK and the Haydneum – Hungarian Music Center.

A hugely important and impressive undertaking will be handed over today: from now on, the OSZK has the largest and most modern equipment park among the public collections in Central Europe, which enables the digitization of 10 million pages per year and is suitable for the digitization of all types of documents found in the library - said the Minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office.

Gergely Gulyás emphasized: the almost HUF 10 billion spent on this makes OSZK capable of publishing and displaying everything it preserves as national value in a modern way; thus, documents that have been little researched until now become available to the whole world.

The task is much more than connecting new digitization tools, cutting-edge software, online content and secure storage spaces: the essence of the project is to bring the Hungarian part of the Gutenberg galaxy into the digital age, emphasized the minister.

Digitization is the order of the modern age, so today we managed to pay off a good two-decade debt; Mátyás's corvinas, Kossuth's voice or old sheet music are all available from Cleveland, Budapest or Cluj - Gergely Gulyás praised the development.
