As is well known, according to information from the US government on Friday, the Russian attack on Ukraine could begin on Wednesday, February 16. In the beginning, Ukraine represented that the news about the Russian attack was alarming, but by Monday evening the situation had changed, mandiner.hu wrote in its article, referring to 444.hu.

On the portal, it is written: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the people on Facebook on Monday evening and said that he was also informed about the plan for the attack on Wednesday, the 16th, and from his words it seems that he is now taking this very seriously.

He talked about the fact that the Ukrainian people will fight for their freedom and that the Ukrainian army is very strong.

On Monday evening, February 16, the possible day of the attack, was declared a public holiday, the day of National Unity. The country will be hoisted and prepared for battle by Wednesday. The president called on civil servants currently abroad to return home within 24 hours. The Ukrainian parliament could not hold its session on Monday because only 24 of the more than 400 deputies showed up. They should have decided to introduce a state of emergency.

According to rumors, many representatives fled abroad, which is why the meeting could not be held.

There is also a chance that citizens of other countries will be deported through Hungary in parallel with the Ukrainian citizens.

"...in the event of a war, hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of refugees would arrive from Ukraine, and Hungary's political and economic situation would be fundamentally redrawn. […] We are working for peace, but of course the designated state bodies have started preparations. Even in the event of war, we have a suitable scenario and action plan," HVG quoted from Viktor Orbán's annual evaluation speech on Saturday.

The paper recalled that more than 130,000 Transcarpathian Hungarians live in Ukraine, so they turned to the competent Hungarian authorities with the question of whether they are prepared to receive Hungarian refugees. According to their answer, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade continuously jointly assess the security issues related to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

"The Ministry of National Defense has an evacuation plan with which we can help Hungarian citizens and, if necessary, citizens of other nations to get out of Ukraine," they wrote, however, no further information was shared about the details of the plan. At the same time, it was announced: there is a chance that citizens of other countries will be deported through Hungary in parallel with the Ukrainian citizens.
