The security of Hungary is the most important thing, therefore the Hungarian Defense Forces will mobilize its troops to the eastern part of the country in the coming days, announced Minister of Defense Tibor Benkő. The first troops can leave this afternoon, so military movement should be expected on the country's roads.
As is well known, the government's national security cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met in the Karmelita monastery on Tuesday morning "to review the crisis situation in Ukraine and make the necessary decisions," Bertalan Havasi, head of the Prime Minister's Press Office, told MTI.
Minister Tibor Benkő announced: at the morning meeting of the national security cabinet, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán gave the Ministry of Defense the task of preventing armed groups from entering Hungary and carrying out maneuvers on the territory of the country.
He emphasized: People in Hungary need not be afraid, but they must be careful, the Hungarian Defense Forces must be prepared for all eventualities.
According to Tibor Benkő, if the situation in Ukraine escalates, there will be war activity not only in the eastern part of Ukraine, but also in the direction of Kyiv and Transcarpathia. Tibor Benkő explained the tasks for the soldiers to prepare for the arrival of refugees at the borders and also for humanitarian tasks.
The task of the Hungarian Defense Forces is twofold: one is to ensure and assist humanitarian tasks, the other is to close Hungary's border and ensure that no armed groups can enter Hungary. To this end, I have ordered the deployment of military forces in the eastern region of Hungary with the appropriate number of personnel and the appropriate equipment. In other words, the border must be strengthened, said the Minister of National Defence.
