The Ministry of Agriculture is monitoring the Russian-Ukrainian war situation and will take the necessary steps immediately if necessary, the ministry wrote on Friday.

According to the announcement Minister of Agriculture István Nagy stated that the government's goal is to continue to provide the population with food, the conditions necessary for agricultural production, animal husbandry and food production, as well as the uninterrupted provision of services that ensure production.

The head of the Greyhound Ministry said that we conduct trade with Ukraine that does not significantly affect the domestic food supply, so we should not expect supply difficulties due to the war situation there.

He explained that, for example, we import flaxseed, sorghum seed, honey and fodder from Ukraine. The minister pointed out that as an indirect effect of the war, one can count on, for example, the increase in the price of cereals on the world market, which may also affect Hungary.

The Minister of Agriculture also spoke about how the ministry monitors the longer-term effects affecting individual agricultural sectors (for example, seed production and distribution or animal feed), and constantly examines possible indirect problems.

István Nagy reminded that in relation to Hungarian food production, it has been proven several times that it is a strong and stable sector, able to successfully overcome obstacles.

In recent years, the government has spent billions on the development of Hungarian agriculture, among other things, this also contributes to ensuring a safe and continuous food supply in our country, he explained in the announcement.
