"...because the kulaks are also enemies of democracy, this must be understood.
(…) Our party, under the leadership of Comrade Rákosi, will solve
the historical work of the social structure of the country"
(Donáth Ferenc, 1948)
Regrettably, since we could now afford a whole family winter so that young and old could try out together what those beautiful snowy terrains are like, where our liberal friends, the languishing persecuted of the system, have been returning regulars for decades - so it was only now that he got there due to the hindrance of welfare to me, Anna Donáth, country assessor.
So, with some delay, I would like to ask the voters of Momentum, the informed urban intelligentsia, the champions of critical thinking, the despisers of demagogy, what do they think of these sentences:
"In the past decade, the fate of millions of Hungarians has taken a turn for the worse. Today, there is hardly a family that does not have serious livelihood problems and fears."
"Millions of young people starting their careers have to spend almost all of their earnings on housing."
These statements, recalling the most gloomy moments of Klára Dobrev, were presented by the president of Momentum, who has a degree in sociology, with the most gloomy attitude possible. Of course, you can make the excuse that hey, there's no need to twist his words, he didn't want to say a million things, he just happened to read bad things about the helpline - but two days later, the EP representative repeated his last figure in a separate Facebook post, also in the form of a picture, in bold, large letters, and even quoted in the post. "Several million young people starting careers" are languishing in the country of 9.7 million, he announces.
It is difficult to decide what is more unpleasant: if Anna Donáth sees her voters as some kind of mushrooms kept in the dark and fed with manure, and consciously instills in them that millions have fallen into poverty in a country where in fact even the poorest decile consumes more than three times as many pastries a year, as consumed in 2010 (in the case of meat products, we can talk about twice as much, and more than twice as much in the case of bananas), or
the EP representative really has no idea how many career starters there are in Hungary, or how the standard of living of an average family is developing compared to the Gyurcsány years.
Then there is the indignant statement that "a new privileged elite has been created that can afford to send its children to foreign private schools".
It is not clear why this is such a tragedy: one of Momentum's parliamentary candidates in Budapest, for example, graduated from the British International School during the NER, another Momentum candidate completed his studies in Abu Dhabi, New York and London, the de facto leader of the opposition after a foundation high school in Milan he sent his son to an elite university, where the annual tuition was already three million forints (plus housing, right); but there is also another party leader in the ranks of the opposition, who currently pays 1.32 million per year for his child's high school education (it is the foundation school where, by the way, Anett Bősz also graduated).
Roughly 75 years ago, there was already the text that the fascist big capitalist is the crippler of the country, the tormentor of the poor peasant, but then the left will bring everyone the happy love world with its relentless pro-democracy. And now, when with the persistent work of three generations we have fought our way back to the distant surroundings of our standard of a hundred years ago, the Donáth girl comes and starts to explain to us that the NER big capitalists are crippling our lives, but then the left will bring everyone with their relentless pro-democracy I love the happy world for him.
