Lawmakers in Iowa realized that it is not fair for a woman and a man to compete together, reports 888.hu.

The bill, House File 2416, is taking effect and requires that "school-sponsored athletic events be designated as men's, women's or co-ed sports," according to USA Today. Athletes who wish to compete in women's sports must indicate "female" on their birth certificate.

There will be no such requirement for men's sports.

Kim Reynolds called the case a "fairness issue" for women's sports careers.

"The girls' dream is to get a scholarship and compete in the Olympics one day. So it's a question of fairness.”

Iowa Republican Party Co-Chair Linda Upmeyer

"Young girls should not be discouraged from participating and succeeding in athletics because the competition is not commensurate with their abilities. "Woke has no place in our schools or in athletics"

Sam Ames , director of advocacy and government affairs at the Trevor Project, the bill aims to "isolate transgender youth." “This bill is not and has never been about fairness in sports,” Ames said in a statement. ( 2022plus: Mr. Director, doesn't it bother you that the mentioned men would have at least twice as much chance of participating in sports competitions if they were women? Alas, he is very sensitive about trans people and, alas, he is very insensitive towards female athletes! )

In early February, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem signed a bill that would restrict biological males from competing in women's sports. Speaking to Fox News, he said the law is meant to "level the playing field."
