According to Magyar Hírlap, as the goodwill ambassador of the Magyar Református Szeretetszolgált, presidential candidate Katalin Novák personally assessed the situation in Beregszász of the Subcarpathian population and the refugees from internal Ukraine who have taken refuge in the county neighboring Hungary.

Katalin Novák arrived in Beregszász with the bishops of the four Hungarian church districts, with whom she took part in a joint service with the leaders and pastors of the Transcarpathian Reformed Church District. Katalin Novák declared in the Beregsász Reformed church that "we Hungarians stand by each other, we can count on each other. Sometimes people are ready to help with actions, sometimes with words, and sometimes with their mere presence. I feel that the most we can do right now is to be here, to be with you, and we are with you today," said the Good Service Ambassador of the Reformed Love Service.

Katalin Novák reminded that the guests from the motherland are present at all important events for Transcarpathian Hungarians: family days, the opening and graduation ceremonies of the Hungarian college in Beregszász, church events. "We share the joy, and now we share the sorrow, the worry, we also share the difficulty".

He said that there are disputes in Hungary as well, "there are things we don't agree on, but now everyone is thinking about the Transcarpathian Hungarians together, with hearts beating together."

Hungary welcomes all refugees as guests, they can stay as long as they have to, he said. He highlighted the role of people who stayed at home and serve the community. In the end, he wished that "as we have done so many times in Hungarian history, we will rise stronger from this difficult situation."

After that, Katalin Novák visited families with many children and single people in Beregsász, as well as visited one of the refugee shelters created for war refugees. He handed over aid packages to the needy at all locations. Finally, in the bakery of the diaconate center of the Subcarpathian Reformed Church, he made bread together with the workers there, which is also given to people with a difficult fate.

Speaking to the staff of the Hungarian public service media, Katalin Novák underlined that there is peace in Hungary, "and we will keep this peace, that's why we won't intervene, and that's why we won't drift into this war" . Both in the motherland and in Transcarpathia, there is a collaboration that provides help to all those in trouble, he pointed out.
