The head of the League is ready to be "present" at the border between Ukraine and Romania or Hungary - the politician himself announced this on Friday.

According to 888.hu, Matteo Salvini, the leader of the League, said that he is ready to go to the borders of Romania or Hungary, where the shipments of the Italian civil defense will cross into the territory of Ukraine.

Avondios Bica heads the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas in Milan , who will leave for Ukraine in the next few hours with a convoy of fifteen trucks carrying food and medicine. Matteo Salvini offered his help to ensure that the shipment could get through to Ukraine.
He explained that he "wants to be physically present" at the Romanian or Hungarian border. "It is not enough to demonstrate for peace from a distance, you need to be present," he said.

"I don't go for a walk, but because I want to be useful," he added.

The leader of the right-wing government party said in his previous press conference that he is in contact with the Polish and Hungarian prime ministers.

"I also thanked Mateusz Morawiecki and my friend Viktor Orbán in a phone message for the extraordinary and generous action with which they welcome those fleeing the war," he declared. He added that the governments of Warsaw and Budapest proved that the previous criticisms of the Polish and Hungarian reception policies were "words made out of thin air".

In response to a journalist's question, Matteo Salvini emphasized that in the case of those coming from Ukraine, no one can doubt that they are fleeing the war raging in the country, they are "real widows and orphans".

He added that many of those arriving in Italy from other places claim the same thing, that is, that they are fleeing war, but in the case of 56 percent of asylum seekers, the Italian authorities reject the applications. "They come ashore with the latest type of mobile phone, and then we find them at the Termini railway yard in Rome, selling drugs," explained the League politician.
