The Magyar Nemzeti Bank revoked the activity license of Sberbank Magyarország Zrt. (hereinafter: Sberbank, registered office: 1088 Budapest, Rákóczi út 1-3.) and ordered the liquidation of the credit institution. As a result, the National Deposit Insurance Fund (OBA) began providing compensation to depositors on March 3, 2022 and within 10 working days, no later than March 18, 2022, the OBA says in its statement.

Based on the data received from Sberbank, the OBA has started paying compensations, thus

DEPOSITORS CAN ALREADY EXPECT A CREDIT TO THEIR ACCOUNT,

within a few days, the depositors will also receive the amount of the compensation due to them as a postal payment from Magyar Posta Zrt. Customers who can dispose of the compensation amount due to them at Takarékbank Zrt. will soon receive detailed information on which branch and from when they can visit for administration purposes.

Some of the depositors already received the compensation amount on their accounts today. It may therefore happen that the amount of the compensation reaches the depositor sooner than the postal letter containing the payment settlement. The OBA is constantly working on payments so that the compensation reaches those entitled as soon as possible. Keeping in mind the statutory compensation deadline and the speedy compensation of all customers, the OBA tried to use the most favorable payment methods for the customers regarding the announced payment channels.

If customers do not yet have an account with a credit institution other than Sberbank, they are asked to open an account with a Hungarian credit institution as soon as possible. If you already have an account with a credit institution other than Sberbank, be sure to bring its number with you to Takarékbank. Please bring your ID document and address card with you to the administration to prove your identity, as well as company-type customers (including sole proprietors, condominiums, foundations, associations, etc.) to prove their registration and registration, as well as to prove the disposition on behalf of the company suitable documents, says the OBA in its announcement.
