The Russian president also spoke about the possibility of Russia taking over the assets of foreign companies.

Vladimir Putin gave a speech on Russian state TV. He spoke of some countries taking "unfriendly steps" against Russia and its economy - referring to the sanctions imposed against it by the West.

He said there is an increase in demand for certain things, but there is no doubt that these issues will be resolved -

people will understand that there is simply nothing we cannot solve.

He then pointed to the West, saying they are "calling on their citizens to tighten their seatbelts and put on warm clothes" and blaming sanctions for the worsening situation. “This is all very strange,” he said.

He insisted that Russia was fulfilling its energy supply obligations and was not to blame for the price increases.

"This is the result of their own miscalculations - don't blame us."

Putin: Russia can take over the assets of foreign companies

According to him, the Russian government can take over the assets of foreign companies that withdraw from Russia. He says Russia may "introduce external control" of businesses that close production facilities,

then you can “give these businesses to those who are willing to work”.

"We're going to find a legal way to do it," he said.
