As a result of the measures introduced on Thursday, panic-like refueling has stopped across the country.
The truck stop came into effect on Friday evening, which may also eliminate supply problems. In Europe, the price of fuel is breaking records, in some places it is HUF 860 per liter of diesel. According to experts, unpredictability will remain as long as the war lasts. At the same time, the gasoline price freeze will definitely remain in place until mid-May, the M1 News reported. The minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office spoke at the latest government briefing that there is no point in standing in line at the wells. The problem arose from the fact that foreign carriers had been regularly refueling with cheap diesel in Hungary for months.
However, the government decided that Hungarian trucks over seven and a half tons, as well as foreign trucks from three and a half tons, can only refuel at high-pressure wellheads, and at market prices. This measure takes a huge burden off gas stations.
Even on Friday, you could hardly see large trucks at the filling stations of the highways. During the long weekend - except for Sunday and Monday night - the government ordered a truck stop,
so it is almost certain that the supply restrictions will also end, but what is perhaps most important is that the gasoline price cap will remain.
"In recent days, there have been numerous baseless rumors about the government's unwillingness or inability to maintain the gasoline price freeze, as well as about, which is also untrue, that the country's fuel supply has been threatened. These rumors are untrue and without any basis," said Gergely Gulyás, Minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office.
The counter is spinning, the prices are spinning, now upwards. In Western Europe, fuel prices continue to rise.
Motorists are queuing at Portuguese filling stations, where a liter of 95 petrol is already close to two euros. They pay more for fuel in France than ever before. For days now, you can buy gasoline and diesel there for two euros or more, i.e. around HUF 750.
It can also be seen on the totem poles of Austrian gas stations that the price of fuel is around two euros, which may continue to creep up next week.
Gasoline is currently the most expensive in the Netherlands in Europe:
approached HUF 820 per liter. This is followed by the Scandinavian and Mediterranean countries. Prices have also risen significantly in Germany, now you have to pay HUF 739 for a liter of gasoline on average. Diesel is the most expensive in Sweden, HUF 860 per liter, while the Finnish and Belgian prices are HUF 750.
Overall, in the EU, you have to pay HUF 641 for a liter of petrol, and HUF 625 for a liter of diesel.
Analysts are constantly monitoring the increase in the world market price of crude oil, as this is the reason why fuels become more expensive. Now the price of a barrel costs 126 dollars, which is roughly HUF 45,000, but a few days ago it was already 130 dollars. which has not been seen since the 2008 economic crisis.
The HUF 480 price level in Hungary is the second lowest in the European Union after Poland. If there was no price cap,
then you would have to pay HUF 640 for gasoline and HUF 717 per liter for diesel,
that is, thanks to the price cap, tens of billions of forints can remain with families and businesses.
