In Ukraine, the activities of several opposition parties allegedly linked to Russia have been suspended for the duration of the martial law.

"The National Security Council of Ukraine, in view of the full-scale war situation and certain political organizations connected to the country, has decided to suspend the activities of a number of political parties for the duration of the state of war," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a video message published at dawn on Sunday.

According to the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN, the affected parties and political forces are: the Opposition Platform - For Life, the Party of Sarija, Ours, the Opposition Bloc, the Left Opposition, the Union of Left Forces, Power, the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, the Socialist Party, the Party of Socialists and Volodymyr Szaldo.

"The activities of their politicians aimed at collaboration and social division will not be successful, but they will receive a harsh response for this," the Ukrainian Pravda news portal quoted Zelenskiy as saying.

The head of state of Ukraine also announced that he had instructed the Ministry of Justice to immediately suspend the activities of the mentioned political forces.

The German news agency dpa recalled that the Opposition Platform - For Life and the Opposition Bloc are also represented in the Ukrainian parliament. He added that they are Eurosceptic, anti-liberal and pro-Russian political forces.
