Polish President Andrzej Duda calls for Friendship Day to be held at the first opportunity, depending on the security situation.

Based on the mutual agreement of the parties, the celebration of the Polish-Hungarian Friendship Day in Poland will be postponed due to the war that broke out in Ukraine - the statement of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, the content of which the Office of the President of the Republic of Hungary informed MTI on Sunday, states.

"This year, the Polish-Hungarian Friendship Day was supposed to be held on March 18-19 in Bochnia, but due to the war that broke out in Ukraine, we postponed it to a later date with the agreement of both parties," the Polish side said in the document.

"Together we thought that while the Ukrainians are fighting heroically for the occupied homeland, now is not the right time for us to celebrate happily," they added.
At the same time, the statement continues, Polish President Andrzej Duda urges that, depending on the security situation, Friendship Day be held at the first opportunity, as the Polish President and his wife maintain a friendly relationship with Hungarian President János Áder and his wife.

"President Duda's intention is for President Áder to make his farewell visit to Poland, if it is possible to do so before the end of President Áder's term of office," read the statement of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland.
