Minneapolis is mourning: one of the main attractions of the American city's zoo, the institution's Siberian tiger, which was named after Russian President Vladimir Putin that year, has died.
The 12-year-old Putin died during a routine medical examination, according to the zoo's post, which strangely did not even name the predator this time, presumably because of rampant anti-Russian sentiment in the USA, writes Világgazdaság.
With heavy hearts we share that our 12-year-old male Amur tiger passed away yesterday during a routine medical procedure despite heroic emergency efforts by our team. This is a profound loss, and we thank our staff for their dedication to the animals. https://t.co/XX3K9gqcY8 pic.twitter.com/TECZCoLtz0

According to the zoo's statement, everything was done to save the big cat's life, but after its circulation stopped, it was not possible to restart it.
According to the local CBS newspaper, Putin was born in a Czech zoo, moved from there to Denmark, and was finally moved to Minnesota in 2015.
