Even in today's conditions, Ágnes Kunhalmi told an unusually large lie about the 13th month pension when she spoke to ATV's evening program the other day. First of all, the co-chairman of the MSZP spoke about the fact that if he were to come to power, the left would not abolish the allowance, and whoever claims otherwise is not telling the truth. Then, referring to the socialist governments of the 2000s, the politician said: "we didn't pay the 13th monthly allowance because they replaced us". The former statement of Ágnes Kunhalmi is at least questionable, but the latter can be refuted from several points of view. In Hungarian: lie.

The world crisis of 2008 brought the Hungarian economy to its knees in a short way, due to the series of mistakes of the left-wing government at the time, a significant and quick adjustment was necessary.

FRANCIS GYURCSÁNY AND HIS GOVERNMENT IMMEDIATELY PLANNED BRUTAL AUCTIONS, BUT THESE MOSTLY ONLY AFFECTED THE POPULATION. GYURCSÁNYE PAYED THE PRICE FOR THEIR MISTAKES AND DAMAGES WITH THEIR EMPLOYEES, THEIR FAMILIES AND PENSIONERS.

In addition to the termination and limitation of many welfare opportunities, the 13th monthly pension was abolished, for example, in two steps. First, at the end of 2008, the conditions of the benefit were tightened and its amount was limited. Then, in March 2009, the government submitted another draft law, which provided for the complete abolition of the 13th month pension. Both laws - contrary to the current assertion of Ágnes Kunhalmi and the previous statements of Gyurcsány's wife, Klára Dobrev - were prepared by the MSZP, under the leadership of Ferenc Gyurcsány. In March 2009, together with the liberals, the socialists guaranteed the majority of the government in which Gyurcsány was the prime minister.

It is true that the abolition of the 13th monthly pension was finally voted by the legislature in May 2009, and at that time Gordon Bajnai was the prime minister. The benefit ended on July 1, 2009. The voters replaced the left a year later, in the spring of 2010, so contrary to Kunhalmi's recollections, the 13th monthly pension was not canceled due to the decision of the voters. Indeed, it ended at the initiative of the left, under the leadership of Ferenc Gyurcsány and Gordon Bajnai, with the support of the SZDSZ, because of the left.
