Benedek Róbert Sallai, the former member of parliament of the LMP, who was convicted for his fight with Ákos Hadházy in 2019, writes in his Facebook post that he really wants to support the opposition, but honestly, that simply doesn't work.
"You missed this. Again.
I don't know what else to hope for and how many people think that the opposition can win tomorrow, but I'm trying my best not to wait for the result with gloating. I really want to support the opposition, but honestly, it just doesn't work. Not because I'm happy to see Fidesz win - that's not the case. Because my favorite word is "I told you so". I don't feel like a good person because of this, but unfortunately it's like this: if I tell my daughter that she'll catch a cold in a short skirt, or my son that he'll fall if he runs around, and either one happens, I'm reassuring: I said it. Because I feel that it's useless to say it anyway, until it is confirmed that what I said will happen, because the child mostly learns at his own expense anyway. Experience teaches the most. Of course it's stupid, it doesn't even learn at its own expense. It's no use talking to the opposition coalition, no matter how it experiences failure after failure: it doesn't bother it if it falls, it's good for it anyway, because it's not interested in the case, only a few private existences. He falls, but he does everything the same. Again and again.
You have to look here, this page of mine. I wrote it half a year ago, I wrote it two years ago, I wrote it four years ago: the alliance is a flawed political product that is good for keeping Viktor Orbán and Fidesz in power. It was a defective product in 2018 and it is defective in 2022. I was hooked. I'll be down now, but I'll make it easier for myself by writing before the elections: you've screwed me over again. Arrogance, self-righteousness, hypocrisy, lies, lack of credibility - this characterizes the opposition coalition in a spectacular way, and it is impossible to put into points what caused it to prove the inadequacy and unworthiness of the coalition in many areas. Despite this, a few dozen opposition politicians, people who no one from society voted for and could not vote for, who are at the top of the list on the magical OGY list, will take up their mandate based on background pacts with whiskey and can divide Estonia for another four years in the parliament. They share the idea of political culture with Fidesz, while the political culture they mention would be the basis: if someone is fighting a losing battle on the political stage, then the solution is to leave the stage elegantly. If someone cannot achieve success, only failure, they should not be rewarded with new opportunities, but removed from the front line. But not in Hungary. Here, the losers list their excuses and look for those to blame. The Nazis and the joke party will be at fault, then the MZP will be pointed at, but no one sees their own responsibility in what happened, i.e. in tomorrow's result.
Gyurcsány already has the script of who is to blame. The intellectually liberal bagagáz of Pest also has a scenario of who will be to blame: obviously it will be the stupid countryside, who were either bought, or they are all stupid, or both together.
And none of them notices: there were enough of them. We had enough of them. Not a little, a lot. Viktor Orbán is kept in power by the protest votes against them. I can't wait to add up the combined votes of DK, Momentum, MSZP, Jobbik, LMP, Párbeszéd in 2018 and compare it with tomorrow's results and see what the joke party and the extreme right will bring, but I would dare to bet: the support of the latter, and the result they achieve will not be a sufficient sign that the former should finally disappear from the scene, because the only thing that will happen is that Orbán will win in 50 years, even if he is stuffed, against such an opposition. There may be channel scandals, pedophile scandals, fornication, the leader's bodyguard may wage a mindless war - society still says this: they are still better than this bullshit. And this baggage will remain, because he does not want to leave voluntarily, even though it has been clear for quite some time that there is a changing mood in the country (to quote a classic).
On September 1 of last year, I asked, and I will repeat it again: who will take responsibility for the fact that the opposition loses again with total unity? Who finally disappears from public life? How many times do they want to try again and again?
I look forward to tomorrow with sadness, even more despair.
