From the beginning, the Church has insisted that marriage is a union of love between a man and a woman, which can give life to the next generation, as well as serve the good of the individual and the community - emphasized András Veres, County Bishop of Győr, President of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference, in an interview the other day .
Regarding the child protection referendum, the head pastor stated: God created man as male and female, and man and woman pass on life in the covenant of love. Everything that differs from this is not normal, we must boldly declare this, he added. Speaking about the family as a medium for the formation of gender identity, he said: in a family based on a healthy partnership, children are able to reach their natural identity by asking questions, which the parents must answer honestly according to the child's maturity.
He also talked about: in his religious classes held for married people, he took the position that gender education does not have its place in school or somewhere outside the family, but only in the family, and the father and mother must also grow up for this task. Although this is not easy for everyone, it still helps the child to have a healthy emotional and mental formation. Anything that deviates from this will cause injury, as children do not mature in the same way, and only the parents, within the family, can monitor which of them is where and at what pace, he explained.
Regarding the parliamentary elections and the referendum - in which the bishops encourage everyone to participate because of the responsibility they feel for the future - he said: both are very decisive. "I trust that not only Christians, but people of common sense in general, will feel their responsibility and know that they have to make a statement on this matter in order to build the future," he added. According to András Veres, "the one who chooses naturalness and normality makes the right decision", and in parliamentary voting, "an adult Christian can make a responsible choice", because Christian values help him in this.
