After superiorly beating Péter Márki-Zay, the politician declared that the civil war had ended tonight.

A new era is beginning in Hódmezővásárhely, the civil war ended tonight, because we won the war, János Lázár declared on Sunday. As a candidate of the Fidesz-KDNP, János Lázár obtained 52.14 percent of the votes against Péter Márki-Zay, who obtained 39.86 percent, in electoral district 4 of Csongrád-Csanád County, based on a 96.33 percent processing rate. He said at his press conference that he won the support of voters in all 19 settlements of the electoral district, including Hódmezővásárhely.

The politician thanked his family and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, as well as his fellow Fidesz representatives for their support, and the activists and volunteers for their work.

In this campaign, he had to stand up against a huge force, against attacks and the use of unethical means, he had to prove that he was worthy of trust, he said. He added: "the work done was not in vain, we won the trust of the voters".

János Lázár asked those who supported him, as well as those who did not vote for him, to end the civil war, to join hands, not to fight against each other, but for each other. It has been proven that you cannot achieve results with a negative campaign and hatred. Elections can only be won with work and performance, he emphasized.

Humility is the most important thing for politics and elections. Hubris lost today, and humility won - declared the representative, who is starting his sixth parliamentary term.

He said that he is applying for a job in order to work together with everyone for the upliftment of the community, as it is time for Hódmezővásárhely and its region to move up.

In response to a question, he said that the victory means a lot to him personally, and he feels that a new era has begun in his political career. And to the question whether this means that he will return to national politics, or perhaps to the government, he answered: he returned tonight.
