Negotiations are underway between the Budapest and Bucharest Foreign Ministries on the continuation of the Hungarian economic development program in Transylvania

- said Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó during his visit to Cluj-Napoca on Thursday, who, among other things, discussed the continuation of the strategic partnership with Fidesz-KDNP and the strengthening of Romanian-Hungarian relations with RMDSZ president Kelemen Hunor. At a press conference held in the treasured city, the head of Hungarian diplomacy - who is expected to serve in the fifth Orbán government - thanked the Hungarians abroad, including Transylvanian Hungarians, for participating in the April 3 parliamentary election in these "extraordinary historical times".

Péter Szijjártó said,

A record-breaking parliamentary election took place in Hungary, the ruling party received unprecedented support from Hungarian voters, and the Fidesz-KDNP will have a record number (135) of representatives in the new Parliament that will be established in May. "The decision was made not only about the future of the country, but of the entire nation, as it is natural for the national, Christian, civil side that all members of the nation can participate in the joint decision about us, while the left represents something completely different. It is a great pleasure for us that members of the Hungarian national community across the border also took part in the competition in a record number"

- stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs. According to his description, 318,083 postal votes were received from across the border in this year's contest, of which 251,000 voted for the Fidesz-KDNP; In Transylvania, the consulates in Csikszereda and Cluj received 202,767 envelopes, which is 50,000 more than four years ago. "The motherland counts on the Hungarian communities abroad, and they can also count on the motherland.

We will always support them, be it economic development programs, cultural or educational support"

- stated Péter Szijjártó, thanking the Romanian post office for their cooperation in the timely delivery of postal ballots, as well as the Romanian state and government institutions for not obstructing the voting process. The head of the ministry said that it is in Hungary's interest to build the best possible cooperation with Romania, and he expressed his hope that relations can continue on the path they have started, from which both parties can benefit.

Székelyhon asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade what is the obstacle to the continuation of the Hungarian government's foreign economic development program in Transylvania and its extension to Partium. Szijjártó called the initiative carried out by Hungary for six years a success, in the framework of which the Budapest government provided support for tens of thousands of investments in neighboring countries.

"Everyone can benefit from this, since investments are made here, labor is employed here, taxes are paid here, and at the same time, the economic development of the Hungarian communities across the border is an important aspect. Negotiations are taking place between the Romanian and Hungarian foreign ministries, I don't see any insurmountable opposition between the positions, so we will probably soon be able to issue the new tenders"

- declared the head of the ministry. Kelemen Hunor wished the Hungarian parliament and the fifth Orbán government good luck in everything it plans for the next four years. The president of the RMDSZ believed that the explanation for the fact that the overwhelming majority of Transylvanian Hungarians voted for the government parties in the motherland is that the values meet, they are similar. "The Hungarian people of Transylvania said yes to the national policy, the policy pursued by the Fidesz-KDNP for the past 12 years was based on common values. We are not surprised by the election results," said the politician who holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister in the Bucharest government.

Said,

the RMDSZ continues the strategic partnership with Fidesz-KDNP, on the other hand, it is interested in strengthening Romanian-Hungarian relations. He added that in the current difficult period characterized by crises and war, interdependence and solidarity are even more important than before.

At the press conference, both politicians called it a provocation that a few days before the parliamentary election, they found a dozen discarded mail ballots in the Jedd border near Marosvásárhely, at an illegal garbage dump. Péter Szijjártó thanked the Transylvanian Hungarians for "not standing up to the vile attempts at provocation" , and Kelemen Hunor said: "all the horse's legs were hanging out of the bag that also hid the postal votes" . According to the president of the RMDSZ, some people tried to discredit the institution of postal voting with the provocation.
