After the parliamentary elections, the Hungarian Christian Democratic Union (MKDSZ) held a Christian Democratic Evening for the first time. Péter Harrach, the president of the MKDSZ, the main organizer of the evening, greeted those gathered. The invited guest was former Chancellor János Lázár. The conversation was moderated by Andrea Földi-Kovács.

The parliamentary representative of the Makó-Hódmezővásárhely region talked about, among other things, that

"For us Hungarians, the experience of a thousand years is that national identity, (...) self-determination must never be given up, because here in the Carpathian Basin we live in the midst of opponents, rather than enemies."

He then drew attention to the fact that

"After a hundred years, Viktor Orbán learned to understand that we are not a losing nation, but that we can be a successful and winning nation, worth belonging to and worth cooperating with."

In connection with this idea, János Lázár pointed out that the Hungarian political elite was not able to do this for a hundred years.

He added that "we Hungarians are also somebody in the 21st century, we are the most successful in this".

János Lázár then went on to say that he is most concerned about "how to push this country even higher in the livability, likability and livability of countries by 2030. How Hungary will be a better place, how it will be much better to live in the countryside".

The former minister believes that the work is not finished with the current victory. "We are halfway there, and in order for the social processes we have started to be irreversible, the general Hungarian well-being must improve."

According to him, three things must be done for this:

"politics must be Christian. The second is that social-based governance is needed. The third is that a strong state is needed". János Lázár stated.
