Interim municipal elections are to be held in several settlements in the near future, since there are many representatives, mayors and deputy mayors who won parliamentary mandates in the parliamentary elections on April 3. And the two positions are incompatible.
In such a situation, the holder of the mandate must decide which office to choose.
The position of parliamentary representative cannot be held concurrently with other elected positions of public trust,
not even with EU officials. If someone chooses the parliamentary mandate and won the county or local government post not from a list, but by winning in an individual district, intermediate voting must be held there. If you won a seat from a list in the 2019 local government election and choose the parliamentary seat, the next politician on the nominating organization's list will take your place.
Two districts in Újbuda are also affected
Taking this into account, for example, a by-election must be held in the 1st district, after the founding member of the Momentum Movement, Ferenc Gelencsér , won a mandate in the parliament from the 26th place of the joint opposition list. Gelencsér is the deputy mayor of the Budavári Municipality, in the 2019 local government election, he got into the representative body from an individual district.

The law also states that if the representative body of the local or ethnic self-government announced its dissolution between November 6, 2020 and April 9, 2022, then the decision regarding the announcement is effective from April 10.
