Next year and two years from now, teachers' wages will increase by ten to ten percent, but if the economy's performance capacity allows, a higher increase is also conceivable. We also believe that the salary should be increased, and if there is a way, it should be done in as large steps as possible - stated Gergely Gulyás in relation to teacher salaries.

Minister Gergely Gulyás, who heads the Prime Minister's Office, made it clear again that the government is committed to valuing teachers. In Thursday's government briefing, the issue of teacher salaries was raised, in connection with which the head of the ministry said: it is not in dispute that a salary increase is justified for teachers, just like law enforcement agencies, despite the difficult economic situation. – We are trying to do as much as possible to make it worthwhile to be a teacher. We see the difficulties.

We also believe that the salary should be increased, and if there is a way to do so, it should be done in as large steps as possible - he said, adding at the same time that in the uncertain economic situation caused by the war, at the moment, they cannot responsibly say whether it is possible to exceed the promised earlier.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán already announced in April that after this year's 10 percent wage increase, teachers' salaries will be increased by another 10 to 10 percent next year and the following year as well. This is already certain, but Gulyás asked for patience regarding whether a higher increase than the one already announced is conceivable. - In a few months, we will be in a position to say what we can promise - noted the minister.

The head of the department also reported that the negotiation demands of the teachers' unions will be handled in accordance with the law even after the elections, that is, they will sit down to discuss with the teachers' representatives. "We are glad that after the unions took part in the election campaign alongside the left, they can now negotiate with the cabinet, having come to terms with the result of the election," he pointed out, reminding that the timing of the teachers' spring protests had a partisan political flavor.

Commenting on the minister's words, the Teachers' Union yesterday denied that they had campaigned for the left before the spring parliamentary elections. However, the political backing of the advocates has been proven on numerous occasions. As our newspaper also wrote, before the strike, the representatives of the teachers consulted with Klára Dobrev, and then the strike committee asked the teachers in a letter to wear the blue ribbon, which is considered the trademark of Péter Márki-Zay, at their actions, and in fact, many left-wing politicians appeared at the demonstrations to take selfies with the teachers .
