The natural gas transport to Hungary is taking place according to the contract, according to the schedule and without any disturbances, Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, announced on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

The politician, who is in New York, said that in the last few hours, more news has appeared that Gazprom has stopped natural gas deliveries to Poland and Bulgaria.

The minister highlighted that a significant part of the natural gas transport to Hungary, 3.5 billion cubic meters per year, or roughly 10 million cubic meters per day, arrives in Hungary via the so-called southern route, Turkey, Bulgaria and Serbia.

From this point of view, the news that Gazprom's deliveries to Bulgaria have stopped can be disturbing, he added.

However , the news is accurate in that Gazprom does not deliver the gas volume intended for Bulgaria. According to Gazprom's information, transit, i.e. transport via Bulgaria, whether to Serbia or Hungary, is independent of this. "Gazprom has contracts with different Bulgarian companies for the delivery of quantities intended for Bulgaria and for transit deliveries, " Szijjártó said.

He added: according to information provided by Magyar Földgázsztáváz Zrt., gas transport to Hungary is carried out at Kiskundorozsma according to the contract and plans.

"I would like to reassure everyone that the non-delivery of the gas volume intended for Bulgaria does not mean the stoppage of transit through Bulgaria, " he emphasized.

" Of course, we will also consult with our Bulgarian partners during the course of tomorrow, but for the time being, everyone involved has confirmed this information, " said Péter Szijjártó.

The minister reminded that Gazprom is switching to a different payment method: the company called Gazprom Export asks for the price of gas in rubles.

" However, we managed to find a solution based on which we can transfer the price of gas in euros to our euro account established at Gazprom Bank, Gazprom Bank will convert it to rubles, and this ruble will be forwarded to Gazprom Export," he said .

Szijjártó indicated that "according to the news that came to light yesterday, our Slovak friends and colleagues will also pay this way, at least that is what the Slovak Minister of Economy, who supervises Slovak energy affairs, said. By the way, our next payment obligation will appear on May 22".

" I would like to reassure everyone that natural gas transport to Hungary is going smoothly according to the contract and schedule, " said the minister.
